The harshest times of year on our skin are fall and winter. During this time of year it’s important to give the skin extra care to keep it moisturized. To help you keep your skin healthy and radiant through the holiday season, here are a few fall and winter organic skin care tips, to help you welcome the New Year feeling and looking good.

1. Consume Plenty of Water

Consuming plenty of water will help your skin stay hydrated. Take a bottle of water, tea or juice with you when you go outside of your home. When it’s cold, hot herbal tea can do wonders. Drinking copious amounts of liquids will hydrate your skin enough that you will maintain a healthy glow on even the coldest winter days.

2. Exfoliate Regularly to Remove Dead Skin Cells

Keep your skin feeling fresh by removing dead skin cells with a body or facial scrub. You don’t need to buy expensive products for the job. Create an exfoliant recipe by using items you can find in your kitchen.

3. Employ Organic Moisturizers

Moisturize your skin after exfoliating it. There are various all natural, organic skin moisturizers available. These are free of harsh chemical preservatives that can harm your skin rather than help protect it.

4. Don’t Forget to Wear Sunscreen

Just because summer is over doesn’t mean that you should not apply sunscreen when going out. Apply a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15. There are many sunscreens containing organic ingredients available today. Additionally, some sunscreens contain moisturizing agents, so they do double duty in protecting your skin. Use a good sunscreen to ensure that you protect your skin from the harsh environment.

5. Wear your Gloves

Your mother knew what she was talking about when she insisted you wear gloves in the winter. Don’t leave home in the cold without a pair of gloves. Select gloves that are made of organic material like hemp. Gloves will help your hands stay warm and dry, and will protect your skin from the harsher affects of the elements.

6. Take an Organic Oil Bath

An organic oil bath can be relaxing, as well as hydrate your skin. For instance, relax your body and calm your senses while nourishing your skin with a lavendar bath. To wash away the stress of a tiring day at the office or shopping at the mall, simply add a few drops of the oil to your bath.

7. Protect your Lips with Organic Lip Balm

Lips chap easily in the fall and winter. Both the cold and the use of indoor heaters can cause lips to chap. The best way to avoid chapping is to use an organic lip balm. Always keep one in your pocket or purse. After all, you never know when you’ll need one. If you’ve suffered from chapped lips, then you know lip balm is something you should never be without.
