Everyone Likes Spaghetti Sauce

Spaghetti is a very well known dish originating from China, not Italy as some would like to think. It is a type of pasta which is thin and long. Spaghetti is almost always served in tomato sauce. You prepare spaghetti by putting the pasta in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes. The water is also salted to give the pasta some taste. This is done until the pasta becomes soft. How soft you should cook the spaghetti is up to the person’s preference. Some like the texture to be soft on the outside while still tough in the inside. Others prefer it to be fully cooked, so the softness is presented throughout the pasta.

Tomato is the main ingredient of any spaghetti sauce. A very basic spaghetti sauce is made up of finely chopped tomatoes with the skins and seeds removed (not required), cooked in a pot with olive oil until all the natural raw favours are removed. It is then seasoned with salt.

For a more flavourful tomato sauce, other ingredients are added such as garlic and onion. These should be sauteed at the start before it is combined with the tomatoes. Other common indredients include parsley, oregano, basil and even some hot spicy peppers (black or red). For meat lovers, you can add ground beef to it.

Spaghetti sauce can also be bought in stores. They are packaged in tin cans and comes in various different flavours. Most people find canned spaghetti sauce to be too runny. There are many good spaghetti sauce recipe which can be found online or in any cook books. Here is a simple recipe that you can try out yourself. Begin by sauteeing onions and garlic in olive oil until it is soft and lightly brown. Add some water and half a can of tomato paste to the pot. Next add herbs, spices and salt. After some few minutes of heating, add the other half remaining tomato paste and more water. Let it simmer for 10 minutes and add freshly chopped tomatoes and add more herbs and seasoning for taste. Let it simmer for another few minutes and you are done.
