Great Tips To Have Healthy Eyes
A healthy person always has a pair of healthy eyes. Perhaps it is one of the reasons why doctors flash a light to our eyes to check them each time we go for a check up. But at the basic level, or at our level of understanding, we are all aware that when the eyes are in such a perfect condition, it is safe to say that the rest of the body is also in tip top shape. Keeping our eyes is actually a very easy thing to do, like doing eye exercises or eating the right kind of food for starters. That is why some people claim that the key to a better fitness and wellness is through our very own eyes.
Did you ever imagine how it would be like not have the ability to see? We all know what blind people are like but we do not have the slightest idea what they are going through or what they are feeling because of their blindness. That is why we should feel at least very blessed that we can see and that there is nothing wrong with our eyes, at least not enough to make us become disabled persons. That is why it is important that we should always take good care of our eyesight.
Now to keep a pair of healthy eyes you should follow these easy suggestions.
One of the best vitamins that you should always take is vitamin A. If you have heard of night blindness, that is just among the eye conditions that can be avoided if the body has adequate vitamin A supply. For this to happen you should eat more carrots, sweet potatoes and celery which are rich in this vitamin. However, if for some reason you cannot eat foods high in vitamin A, there will always be supplements that you can take and these come cheap.
Green vegetables are always the most healthiest foods that you can eat and this is also true to maintain our eyes. Vegetables such as broccoli, green beans, spinach and others are rich in antioxidants which are great in fighting the free radicals that cause havoc to our cells, including those in our eyes. Eye conditions like cataract and macular degeneration can then be avoided if only we eat more of these green vegetables.
There are also some minerals that are also good in fighting off the free radicals and selenium and zinc are among the top. Great sources for these minerals are tuna, milk, rice and nuts. Again, if you do not have access to foods rich in selenium and zinc, you can always take supplements.
Do an eye exercise every hour or whenever you start to feel your eyes getting strained. A little looking to the farthest corner or making your eyes go round or staring at relaxing colors like green, all of these can help keep your eyes in good condition and also make you feel relaxed. You should do an eye exercise more often especially if you do a lot of computer work or reading.
And lastly, never forget to take a break when you need it. Relax your eyes every now and then. If you are doing a lot of reading or using the computer, sit back and close your eyes for a couple of minutes. While it might just be an extremely short break, your eyes will get fully relaxed and prepare you for the longer hours of work ahead.
