Nutrition content of Linseed
Linseed (also known as Flax seeds)comes in two basic varieties, brown and yellow or golden. Although it differs with varieties but it still have similar nutritional values and equal amounts of short-chain omega-3 fatty acids. Flax seeds produce a vegetable oil known as flaxseed or linseed oil and it is known as the oldest commercial oils and used as drying oil in painting and varnishing for centuries. Linseeds contains high levels of lignans and Omega-3 fatty acids. Both of this may benefit the heart for it possess anti-cancer properties and may reduce the growth of specific types of tumors. Linseed may also lessen the severity of diabetes by stabilizing blood-sugar levels. It is also used as laxatives due to its dietary fiber content. But should be used in enough amount because excessive consumption of it without liquid may result to intestinal blockage. Consuming large amount of linseeds can alter or impair the effectiveness of certain oral medications due to its fiber content.
