What is Rosacea is a common question for someone who has just been diagnosed with this ailment. Rosacea is classified as a chronic skin condition whose main symptoms include skin redness, lesions and thickening. Usually affecting the face, Rosacea can be found all over the body.

The condition usually occurs in people between the ages of 30 and 50. It is also susceptible to those who are light skinned with blond hair and blue eyes[/spin] It can affect anyone, though, regardless of their age or physical features.

A Deeper Look At Rosacea

The cause which triggers Rosacea has yet to be known. Thus,bacterial factor or anything is not a justifiable cause. The general thoughts about what causes Rosacea are heredity and possible environmental factors.

Heredity is considered a possible cause because Rosacea cases tend to run in families. It may be genetically linked because it also tends to run in females more often than males. One observation is that males with this skin ailment tend to manifest much worse symptoms than females.

Environmental factors appear to cause Rosacea since flare ups take place. Without the trigger a person may not experience flare ups and the disease lies dormant.

Symptoms

Those afflicted with Rosacea experience mild common symptoms in the early stage with mild flushing or blushing The face may look constantly red. There may also be visible blood vessels.

As the condition goes on, the symptoms get aggravated. The condition starts from redness of the skin to bumps or lesion until skin thickening.

Rosacea may also affect the eyes causing redness, dryness and swelling in the eye area.

Rosacea treatments

The treatment for Rosacea depends upon the severity of the symptoms. Usually antibiotics are tried first and they are administered through topical application or orally.

The option of undergoing laser surgery can be considered to mitigate blood vessels effect and redness. The same procedure is applied for the removal of bumps or thickened skin.

For Rosacea affecting the eyes treatment is usually antibiotics and eye drops.

The best way to treat this skin ailment is to start the treatment as early as possible. The earlier signs of Rosacea are harder to treat. Early treatment may prevent the condition from getting worse, as well.

It is a big sigh of relief for those suffering from Rosacea. Many people have been just fine living with Rosacea. It does not inflict any physical pain as a result of the ailment except for irritation due skin’s sensitivity.

The worst part of having this condition may be the psychological side. Some Rosacea patients say they lose self esteem and start to feel bad about how they look. However with proper care administration, the symptoms can be taken cared without much manifestations of the effect.
