Simple Exercises To Reduce Eye Strain

Getting an eye strain can be quite a bother especially if you are trying to meet a deadline and then it suddenly happens. You are forced to take a break because if you do not, you may start feeling some headaches and discomfort because of your extremely tired eyes. For this reason, it would benefit you greatly to know some of the eye exercises to reduce eye strain and help you get back to your work immediately.

An eye strain is not really a very serious health problem. That is the great news about it which should take away any worry on your mind. On the other hand, it could also be just a symptom to a more serious eye health condition, especially if it is happening more frequently and with more intensity.

But before we go straight ahead to the remedies, let us first talk about the symptoms. Because how can you work on the remedies of eye strain if you are not even aware of its symptoms? Some of the more common ones are: watery eyes, tired eyes, increased sensitivity to the light, an itching or burning feeling in the eyes, sore back and neck, and blurred vision.

On the other hand, there are certain symptoms that could spell a deeper and more serious eye condition and not just about having a simple eyes strain. These symptoms are: an immediate and great change in your vision, double vision, and headache.

Listed below are just three of the home remedies that have been proven effective to help reduce eye strain:

1. Follow the 20/20/20 rule.

This is really quite an easy eye exercise that you can try especially if you are in the middle of your work. For every 20 minutes during your working hour, simply focus your eyes and look at an object that is about 20 meters away from you. You should do this for about 20 seconds. After each exercise, you must close your eyes and then relax for a little bit longer. This should be able to properly rest your eyes.

2. Focus the source of your light to the book, monitor or whatever it is that you are reading or looking at.

What this will do is to help focus your vision in a more relaxed way. In addition to this, it will also give you with the right amount of light so you can clearly see what you are reading or working on. This in turn will help minimize the chances of an eye strain.

3. Give your eyelids some much needed massage.

If your body is feeling stressed or strained, what would you normally do? Get a massage. You can do the same for your eyes. What you should do is to massage your eyelid onto your brow or the bone under your brow. Keep on massaging it for about 10 seconds. Afterward, massage your lower eyelid against the bone located just below your eye. Again, you should do this for 10 seconds. This exercise will help relax your eyes after you have been reading or staring at the monitor for a long time.

You should always take good care of your eyes. Again, to help minimize the risks of experiencing an eye strain, you should always take a break so you do not tire yourself. Just resting a bit is a great way to help reduce eye strain.
