Since the beginning of the 21st century, the amount of people who choose to have Lasik eye surgery completed has risen dramatically, especially now that there has been plenty of time for the method to be perfected. Davis vision care is, just as it has been for years, one of the many options for those who elect not to have this kind of surgery performed on their eyes. However, as far as Lasik surgery is concerned, it is according to recent numbers of the most sought after elective surgical procedures in the United States. Now, there has been pressure to create different eyemed VSP options that will cover at least some, if not all of the costs of the surgery, which makes it even more alluring to potential patients. There are lots of motives which would explain why one might want to have eye surgery to improve their sight. Below is a list of the numerous gains that can come from having this surgery done:

1. Naturally, you will be able to see things a lot clearer than you would be able to with glasses and/or contact lenses. The reason being is that contact and/or glasses prescriptions are not usually completely exact when it comes to your vision. They are supposed to assist you to see, instead of being your actual eyes. Having Lasik surgery makes it so that your own two eyes are able to do the work they are meant to do, which means they then do not need any help, such as contacts and/or glasses anymore.

2. Paying a fairly big amount of money for Lasik up front for the surgery will actually save you money in the future. The patients who have Lasik surgery completed rarely have to wear glasses and they do not need to wear contacts. This will save you some very large expenses not only on these products, but you will save on your eye care insurance as well. The way you save on your eye care insurance is that there is almost always a deductable for contacts and/or glasses, so you would not have to worry about this if you have the Lasik procedure.

3. Most people will tell you that when they swim or get into any chemically altered water with their contacts in, their eyes get sore or dry because the chlorine in pools takes the moisture out of the contacts, so the more they stick to the eyes. If you have a Lasik surgical elective completed, this will most likely not be a problem for you any longer. It is important to keep in mind, though, that just because you do not have contacts because of the Lasik surgery, it is does not mean that your eyes will never get dry from pool water ever again, but it will most likely not be as big of an issue as it would be with contacts.

It is quite exciting to see that more and more people are deciding to get rid of the contacts and/or glasses in favor of paying more money up front so they can save money in the future because they will be contact and/or glasses free. With the economy not doing very well now, it will be interesting to see if this trend continues as it seems that more people are trying to save their money, by cutting back on elective surgical procedures.
