A bumper sticker I once saw read “These aren’t love handles, they are a fuel tank for a sex machine” There are lots of funny ways to describe your love handles. You can use humor to justify your overweight condition. Many people are mortified and embarrassed about their love handles. Who likes having their excess fat hanging over their waistband of their favorite jeans? Even when you give that a cute name like “muffin top” the appearance of love handles is something that most people try to downplay. It’s a fact that there is alot you can do about love handles you aren’t stuck with them. We discuss some great ideas for ridding yourself of those “muffin tops”.

Don’t get so preoccupied with your love handles that you neglect the rest of your body. You want to focus on getting your whole body in shape. The way you eat and exercise should be designed to help your whole body.

There really isn’t any way to spot check one part of your body at a time. For example, if you only work your midsection, all you’ll do is create more muscle there, and this could actually make your love handles stand out more. When you focus on making sure that your whole body is healthy not only will you start to look better but you will start to feel better as well. Isn’t this what you want?

One fitness program that many people have had success with is the Couch to 5K program. The Couch to 5K program is a running schedule that helps you work up from not being a runner at all to being able to run a 5K. This program guides you from doing low impact walking for 30 minutes to running for 30 minutes, by increasing your pace incrementally. You can choose to work on increasing the time you work out for or the distance you cover. Even people with no running background have gotten results from this program. You can tailor this program to your own comfort level, progressing at your own pace. Try it out with a friend. You may find running surprisingly pleasurable after you reach the point where you can do it for a while without getting too fatigued.

If you can eat foods that are mostly of the “low energy density” variety, you will be healthier.

These type of foods have the most nutritional value. Good examples of low energy density foods are fruits and vegetables. What makes these foods so good is that your body can make use of just about everything in them. The type of foods that are best avoided are high energy density foods, which are largely devoid of real nutrients. In this group are included most junk and fast foods, as well as those that are high in processed flours and other unhealthy carbohydrates. You don’t want to give your body an excuse to store fat!

Love handles can be very embarrassing. You are not stuck with them you can choose to do something about them. There are many many ways you can reduce or eliminate that extra weight around the mid section. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine is the best way to get rid of body fat. Miracle cures are all lies. Work hard and be patient to get the weight off. At some point you will return to the body you have always wanted to have.
